There are currently three solutions to creating live subtitles and transcripts in Zoom. Subtitles are also commonly referred to as 'Captions' or 'Closed Captions'. The three options are outline in this page.

All options require you to turn in closed captions in your Zoom account. We also recommend using the latest version of the Zoom Client on your computer. The procedure below is also demonstrated in both the videos available on this page.

Sign in to the GSA Zoom web portal at gsa-ac-uk.zoom.us, and sign in with your GSA login details.
In the navigation panel, click Settings.
Click the Meeting tab.
Click the shortcut lint to 'In Meeting (Advanced)'
Verify that Closed Caption is enabled, and check the box to 'enable live transcription'

Option 1. Manual Captions

This method requires an experienced typist to enter the captions in real time. You can assign yourself as typist, or assign another participant. To get started you need to turn on closed captions as detailed above.
A transcription box will then appear where you, or the assigned participant can enter the captions.

Option 2. Automatic Live Captions in Zoom

This method uses Zoom's automatic live captioning feature. The captions/transcript are generated by a computer, and accuracy is determined by many variables, it only works in English at present. For more information about this service please see the Zoom support guide.

Note that this method is simple to use, however it cannot be used to create a subtitle file, and live captions will not be included with any recording. To create subtitles you could either upload the recording to Otter.ai, or use Option 3 shown below.

Option 3. Live captions with Zoom and Otter.ai

This option provides the most flexibility, in that you can save the transcript as a subtitle file after your meeting, however it is slightly more complex to set up. The process is demonstrated in the following video:
