Canvas - Cross-List Courses

The process of moving the enrollment from one or more courses in another on Canvas is referred to as cross-listing.

Consider this scenario for the steps below: you are a teacher on ART101 and ART102, and you would like to move a section of students from ART 101 into ART102. (Note: this will REMOVE the students from ART 101.)

Navigate to the course you wish to cross-list (in our example, ART101)

Click on Settings in the course menu
Click on Sections
Click the title of the section under Course Sections (Test Section)
Click Cross-List this Section
Type the title of the destination course in the Search for Course field (ART102) and click on the course from the drop down list
Click Cross-List This Section.
The test section from ART101 is now in ART102. To check, navigate to ART102 and click People in the navigation bar to see a listing of students. Here you will be able to determine the enrolment and view which section the students are in.

You can also grade each section separately.

Click on Grades in the navigation bar
Click on Showing All Sections and select a section to view only students in that section
