Teachers can now submit work on behalf of students to Canvas Assignments in the Gradebook. That means if your students are having trouble submitting due to a slow internet connection or other technical problems, and you've received the right file via email, you can now upload it to the Gradebook.

Note: This functionality does not apply to Turnitin assignments.
Submitting on behalf of a student works for Canvas assignments that require a file upload, rather than quizzes or text entry boxes.

When you upload work on behalf of a student, a timestamp will record the date and time as well as your name.

How to submit on behalf of a student

To submit on behalf of a student, you should:

Visit the Gradebook for your course
Select the Grade detail tray icon
Select Submit for student
Drag and drop your file or choose a file to upload
Select submit
Your file will now show as submitted, recording the date, time, and your name
